Ron Agam, General Manager of the Wireless Capacity and Coverage Business Unit, has over 15 years of experience in HW-SW products for the telecommunication, mobile, printing and semi conductor industries.  Recently, Ron headed the Product Management and Business Development at RAD Data Communications where he aligned the product portfolio with market needs and defined long term portfolio strategies. 

Before RAD, Ron was the Director of Product Management at Unwired Express where he led a team of Product Managers in defining and driving the development of an Enterprise Server for context-aware mobile applications. Ron’s vast experience in product definitions, new market penetration, steering product management groups, plus direct and channel marketing will contribute greatly to his new position in Alvarion. 

Ron holds a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Tel-Aviv, and a Kellogg-Recanati Executive MBA from Northwestern and Tel Aviv Universities.

Brian Anderson is a Senior IT Management Consultant with a 25 years of experience in the Government and Health Care industries. He is currently a senior IT management consultant for the City of Houston leading several initiatives including municipal broadband and water utility billing automation.

Brian was a pioneer of municipal wireless broadband networks in the U.S. and has worked as a lead consultant for many cities across the country including New York City, Cincinnati, Oakland, Corpus Christi, and Washington D.C.

Ulf Andersson, Head of Communication Services Engagement Practice, is responsible for Ericsson’s core network solution portfolio for North America. He is also responsible for the evolution of the core into IMS and all IMS-related business development and systems integration in the United States and Canada.

Prior to his current role, Andersson served as vice president of Business Development and Sales, focusing on Tier 2 operators in North America. Previously, he served in a wide range of roles from business development to product line management to R&D. Andersson, who joined Ericsson in 1993, helped launch Ericsson’s IMS product line in 2000.

Berge Ayvazian has joined Heavy Reading as a Senior Consultant, following more than 20 years as a senior telecom industry analyst and strategy consultant with Yankee Group. Ayvazian is conducting research and consulting projects on the convergence of broadband and mobility and the business strategies of mobile broadband technology and service providers. Ayvazian served as Yankee Group’s CEO from 1999 through 2001, and later served as strategy director for the Reuters Research and Advisory Unit. He is now leading a new integrated research and consulting practice on 4G Network and Mobile Internet Evolution. This practice will help operators to develop their 4G technology roadmaps – building on existing Heavy Reading research in packet core, service platforms, and mobile backhaul – and build a complete mobile Internet business case leveraging Pyramid’s regional demand-side research on 4G and mobile Internet service adoption. Ayvazian is a frequent speaker at telecom industry events and was contributing editor of 4G Trends and co-chairman of the 4G World, WiMAX World, and Mobile Internet World conference programs.

Bob Azzi is Senior Vice President of Sprint’s Network.  Bob leads a team of nineteen hundred employees composed of executives, managers, and engineers nationwide and internationally who provide network development and deployment, access management and service assurance for Sprint consumer and business customers. He directs the ownership and operations of the CDMA, iDEN and global IP networks operated by Sprint.  Azzi is the Sprint executive officer in charge of the organization that ensures the success of the partnership between the Ericsson Corporation and Sprint Nextel Corporation.
During Mr. Azzi’s 20 plus years of tenure at Sprint, he has held senior leadership positions in network engineering, software development, network planning, network operations and customer service in Minneapolis, Virginia and Kansas City.  His industry expertise was honed from work in local, long-distance, international and wireless telecommunications networks.  Prior to joining Sprint he held various management positions in operations, engineering, and access verification with AT&T Long Lines in Chicago and New Jersey during an eight-year career with AT&T.
Azzi holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and an MBA from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri.   He and his family reside in Olathe, Kansas.

Loïc Bonvarlet is the Software Application Engineering Manager for Cinterion Wireless Modules in North America. Don is a co-founder and chief technology officer for Sandvine. Don is responsible for leading Sandvine’s technical vision, including the strategic development, direction and future growth of Sandvine’s products and solutions.

Before holding the position of CTO, Don served as vice president of consulting systems engineering and led Sandvine’s development engineers and technical service consultants. Prior to Sandvine, Don was director of firmware and manager of software engineering for PixStream, responsible for system architecture. Don also held the position of Manager, Software Engineering for Cisco Systems in the Video Networking Business Unit.

Steven Brightfield currently serves as director of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT).  In this role, Brightfield oversees the product roadmaps and product management functions for the cellular access network products including CSM, FSM and FTR solutions spanning macro,  pico, metro-femto and integrated cellular access for 3G and 4G air interfaces in 3GPP and 3GPP2.  This involves all aspects of product planning, definition, and commercialization.  

Brightfield brings nearly 30 years of experience to Qualcomm.  Prior to joining the company, he held positions at established semiconductor vendors LSI Logic and Plessey Semiconductors in multimedia, wireless and product management as well as founding the semiconductor  intellectual property licensing firm Centamicron.

Stephen Buenzow is a Deputy Division Chief in the Broadband Division of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau at the FCC.  He has a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.   He joined the FCC in 1992, in what was then the Microwave Branch of the Private Radio Bureau.  His nineteen year career at the Commission has been focused on wireless telecommunications, specifically on engineering, licensing, regulatory, and policy issues related to the fixed microwave, broadband, and related services.

Jeff Burlock, Senior Vice President Strategic Technology, Xplornet Communications Inc. Declan Byrne joined the WiMAX Forum in 2010 as the director of marketing. Byrne brings 12 years of experience in the wireless industry and a strong background in marketing to the WiMAX Forum.

Prior to joining the WiMAX Forum, Byrne worked for Airspan as Chief Marketing Officer. At Airspan Byrne was responsible for driving corporate strategy, strategic partnerships, business development, traditional marketing and government relations.

Prior to Airspan, he held senior executive positions at small and large corporations in the wireless industry including a position at AT&T with global responsibility for developing and managing international and domestic alliances.

J. Andrew (Andy) Capener is Director of Marketing for Service Provider Mobility at Cisco, where he is responsible for the go-to-market positioning and communications of solutions for global mobile operators.

Andy joined Cisco through the Starent Networks acquisition in December 2009.  At Starent, Andy served as a vice president in marketing overseeing communication activities for the fast growth, wireless data company. 

In his past leadership roles, Andy oversaw the solutions marketing team for 3Com Corporation’s Carrier Systems Group, while also directly managing marketing of its wireless data offering.  Prior to 3Com, Andy was responsible for Asia Pacific marketing at U. S. Robotics, helping to extend its reach into international markets.  He also held senior marketing positions with Megahertz Corporation, the market leader in PC Card modem technology.

Peter Carson is Senior Director, Product Management for Qualcomm, responsible for the semiconductor (QCT) division’s roadmap and market development for cellular and modem technologies and infrastructure products. He also plays a key role in the development of new business opportunities and ASIC marketing programs for next generation modem technologies at Qualcomm.

Dating back to the initial launch of cellular in the U.S., Mr. Carson has more than 25 years of mobile wireless experience, spanning both the carrier and technology sides of the industry. Prior to joining Qualcomm, Mr. Carson was a member of the initial executive management team at Flarion Technologies, which he helped launch prior to its acquisition by Qualcomm. While at Flarion, Mr. Carson was instrumental in the formation of the IEEE’s 802.20 standards Work Group. Before Flarion, Mr. Carson was vice president marketing and business development at ArrayComm, a pioneer in multiple antenna processing technologies. Earlier, Mr. Carson served as director of marketing and product management for ADC Telecommunications, where he helped launch the company’s wireless systems business.

Previously, over the span of eight years, Mr. Carson held several key domestic and overseas management positions at NYNEX Mobile (now Verizon Wireless).

Michael Carter is a Corporate Team Lead with the Center for Connected Health (CCH), part of the Partners Healthcare System in Boston, Massachusetts. With more than a decade of experience in Media technologies, Mike works with Hospitals within the network on creating projects and programs around these solutions. Prabhakar Chitrapu is a Senior Principal Engineer at InterDigital Communications in King of Prussia, PA, where he has worked since 2000. Christy Coffey has been supporting the US DoD and its Coalition Partners since 2001 in a variety of capacities. As the Head of the TM Forum’s Government and Defense Center of Excellence since its inception in 2006, Christy works directly with over 70 Government and Defense TM Forum member companies, like the US DoD’s DISA, NATO C3, and the UK MOD’s DSTL. Her main focus is to bring these agencies and their suppliers together to work in a collaborative environment to develop standards and best practices for Defense Telecommunications focused on hot topics such as CyberSecurity/Security Management and Policy Based Network Management. Christy holds a top secret security clearance, has a degree in Computer Science, and is recognized on software patents.

Rick was recently Head of the APAC region and prior to that Head of Sales, APAC at Nokia Siemens Networks. He has been instrumental in helping the company gain market share in the region. Before that, he headed the Asia North sub region, where he led the teams in Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Cambodia, Bangladesh and Laos to new deals and market entries.  Rick has had an extensive list of achievements in his 18-year career with Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks, where he held senior sales and marketing positions in the Americas, Europe and Australia. Steve Cotton’s career in computers and telecommunications began in 1966 and he has conducted business in 30 countries. After serving four years as a business systems programmer in the U. S. Air Force and then earning an MSEE in Communications Systems from Georgia Tech, Steve joined GTE as a telephony switching systems developer and had a successful 11 year tenure there, serving in various positions, including Director of Network Engineering and Vice President of Quality Management at GTE Telenet, culminating as Director of Strategic Planning for GTE Sprint.

Starting in 1985, Steve served in various executive positions for several telecommunications ventures, deploying major billing teleprocessing systems throughout the RBOCs, cellular and PCS companies, as well as leading the development of a comprehensive wireless billing/customer care/POS system deployed worldwide. Steve has been operating a strategic management consulting practice since 1993 and was engaged by the IPDR organization from its inception until August of 2007 as Editor-in-Chief, responsible to the Board of Directors for all technical program activities of the organization.

Steve served on the staff of the TM Forum during the integration of the IPDR Organization into the Forum. Steve joined the TM Forum in July 2010 as Head of Revenue Management, leading Collaborative R&D across the entire Enterprise Management subject area, including Asset Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Fraud Management, Revenue Assurance, as well as operational areas such as Billing and Charging, Customer Experience, Data Analytics, and Supplier/Partner Cost Management. Roger Entner is the founder of Recon Analytics responsible for all aspects of Recon Analytics’ research, consulting and operations.

Roger was the Senior Vice President, Head of Research and Insights for the Telecom Practice of The  Nielsen Company from the beginning of 2009 to the end of 2010. Roger was responsible for advancing the research and thought leadership position of The Nielsen Company in the world of telecommunications.  In early 2007, Roger joined IAG Research as Senior Vice President, Communications Sector and was part of the senior leadership team when IAG Research was acquired by The Nielsen Company in April 2008.

Roger was responsible  for helping  telecommunications providers to improve the effectiveness of their advertising expenditures. Building on IAG’s traditional strength in television advertising, Roger was involved in several successful engagements expanding IAG’s traditional television advertising effectiveness measurement to radio, the Internet, and mobile advertising.

Prior to joining IAG Research, Roger was Vice President, Telecom for Ovum. Roger launched the North American coverage for Ovum and was able to establish Ovum as one of the leading telecom research providers in North America. Before joining Ovum, Roger headed the wireless carrier research group at the Yankee Group. During his time at the Yankee Group, Roger also designed, built, and commercially launched the first of the Yankee Group’s quantitative  research products that seamlessly combined historic data with forecasts.

Bob is President of Select Spectrum LLC and Cirpass LLC.  Both companies provide transaction advisory and consulting services to entities seeking maximize the value and utility of FCC spectrum licenses.  From 2003 to 2008 He was Vice President of Spectrum Development for Nextel and Sprint Nextel where he led the spectrum rollup that provided 100 MHz of mobile broadband spectrum rights nationwide.  These channels now form the majority of Clearwire’s spectrum holdings.

Bob started his professional life as a network engineer has held executive positions responsible for strategic development, mergers and acquisitions for major telecommunications carriers.  From 2001-2002, he was SVP of Corporate Development for Ciena Corporation.

Fox has been with Verizon Wireless since 1992, demonstrating a history of record-breaking results and rapid advancement. During this time, Fox has been named to Verizon Wireless’ prestigious President’s Cabinet five times. As president of the Illinois/Wisconsin Region, he has guided Verizon Wireless to a leadership position in a very highly competitive environment.

Over the past few years, Fox has been an integral leader in the adoption and rollout of Verizon’s 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. Knowing that this advance in technology would truly change the game in a wireless world, Fox has helped consumers understand the implications 4G LTE will have on the way they not only conduct business, but manage their daily lives. 4G LTE and Verizon Wireless are both about empowerment, and Fox has been very active speaking to customers, business and community groups and industry stakeholders on just how revolutionary 4G LTE is. He is adept at educating in theory as well as detailing implications in application – whether it’s device-oriented or covering the rapidly advancing topic of machine-to-machine.

Bruce Franca is Vice President of Science and Technology at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB).   The NAB is the trade association for radio and television broadcasting.  Before joining NAB, Mr. Franca was Vice President of Policy and Technology for the Association for Maximum Service Television, Inc. (“MSTV”), a national association of over 500 television stations dedicated to promoting local over-the-air television service.  NAB and MSTV merged in June 2011.
Before joining MSTV in 2007, Mr. Franca was Chief of the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology (OET). 

Mr. Franca joined the FCC in 1974 as an engineer in the Aviation and Marine Division of the Safety and Special Radio Services Bureau (now Wireless Telecommunications Bureau).  He has held positions in the Office of Plans and Policy and the Mass Media Bureau.  He joined the Office of Engineering and Technology as Deputy Chief in 1987. 

While at the FCC, he was awarded Chairman’s Special Achievement Award in 1996 for his work in Digital Television (DTV) and the development of the DTV Table. He also led the FCC’s technical efforts in the development of the Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) and Personal Communications (PCS) Services.  He was awarded the FCC’s Gold Medal for Meritorious Service in 2005.  He received the E. Noel Luddy Award from the Association of Federal Communications Consulting Engineers (AFCCE) in 2009.  

He is a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and has done graduate work in electrical engineering at the George Washington University in Washington, DC.

Greg Friesen is the Vice President of Product Management at DragonWave, responsible for global product management responsibilities across DragonWave’s complete portfolio of products. Greg has 13 years experience in senior product management roles, network design, planning, and engineering, at a number of communications firms, including his current role at DragonWave and previous roles at Nortel Networks, Innovance Networks, and Fundy Telecom. As Senior Product Manager at Innovance Networks he was responsible for all product definition, architecture, and network design. He has been involved in the planning and engineering of over 10 nationwide network deployments. Christopher Gesell serves as the chief innovation & strategy officer for Terremark, a Verizon Company. In this role, Gesell is responsible for setting the company’s strategic direction, overseeing the marketing efforts that create the branding and messaging initiatives tied to the strategy, and leading the research and development efforts that ensures the execution of the company’s long-term vision.

Previously, Gesell was the chief cloud strategist for the Verizon’s global business unit responsible for setting the vision and overall direction for Verizon’s enterprise cloud services strategy. He played a vital role in Verizon’s acquisition of the Terremark subsidiary as well as the company’s evolution to an “everything-as-a-service” delivery model for information technology services for global enterprises, mid-sized businesses and governments around the globe.

With nearly 20 years of industry experience, Gesell previously served as the director of business product strategy for Verizon Business, responsible for developing the unit’s product strategy and product development roadmap for its portfolio of advanced information technology solutions, including cloud computing, hosting, colocation, and application management services.

Before that, Gesell was general manager of hosting services for MCI, acquired by Verizon in 2006, including product marketing and partner development. Prior to joining MCI, Gesell was regional vice president of sales for Digex, Inc., a leader in managed hosting, which was later acquired by MCI.

Manny Gonzalez serves as Senior Director of Mobile Technology at Keynote Systems, Inc. in San Mateo, CA. He is responsible for the product management, engineering and advanced technical support of Keynote’s Mobile Test and Monitoring services.  He has over 20 years of experience in developing and delivering software solutions in the high-tech industry.

At Keynote, Manny leads the development of Keynote’s web-based visualization and provisioning applications. This includes the company’s alarms engine, on-line reporting and real-time data feed services.

In his current role, he oversees all facets of mobile test and monitoring technology and is engaged in delivering next generation solutions for Keynote’s family of mobile services.

Prior to Keynote, Manny served as R&D manager and software architect at Mentor Graphics Corporation. Ira Gorelick is Senior Manager, Business Development, Consumer Electronics at Verizon Wireless.  A 33-year industry veteran, he is currently responsible for helping Tablet providers integrate Verizon Wireless connectivity, both 3G and 4G, into their devices so they can run on the Verizon Wireless, the largest, most advanced, and most reliable network. 

An industry expert in wireless data, Telematics, Machine-to-Machine development, intelligent network planning, product management, and training, Gorelick has spent most of his career at Verizon and GTE.

A 17-year health care industry veteran, Green has extensive experience in the design, development, launch and sale of advanced mobility and communications solutions and applications for the health care sector, helping thousands of health care organizations improve health care operations, reduce costs, and drive operational efficiency through the use of technology and clinical informational flow. 

Prior to joining Verizon Business in 2009, Green spent 12 years at USA Mobility where she served as the vice president of its health care systems solutions division.  Before that, Green was the director of health care sales at ProNet Medical.  She began her career at AT&T Wireless as a manager of national accounts.

Green is active is several professional organizations, including the American Telemedicine Association, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, the Association of Women in Technology and Executives in Healthcare.

Tom Gruba is the Senior Director of Product Marketing in Alcatel-Lucent’s wireless division responsible for marketing GSM, LTE, W-CDMA and the lightRadioTM product family. lightRadio, the newest offer from Alcatel-Lucent, is a breakthrough in mobile and broadband infrastructure that streamlines and radically simplifies mobile networks.

Before joining Alcatel-Lucent, Gruba was with Motorola for 14 years and served in various business development and marketing roles, specializing in software and support services, in both Motorola Networks and the Internet Content and Software Group. He also was head of marketing for both the wireless broadband (Canopy Products) and Motorola’s Networks portfolio (2G/3G/4G).

Prior to joining Motorola, Gruba was at AT&T Bell Laboratories, AT&T Network Systems and Lucent Technologies for 13 years where he held numerous management roles in engineering and product marketing. He also has sales experience in hi-tech test equipment where he developed the passion for marketing.

Jim Harper is a Senior Manager of Technology Marketing in Renesas Mobile Corporation’s Worldwide Marketing and Sales Unit. His current area of focus is wireless modem requirements, wireless access technologies, and technology marketing in the North American region.

Jim served in a variety of roles during a 15 year career at Nokia. During his first nine years with with Nokia Networks, he served in core network systems engineering, core network product management, account management, and 3G radio access business development. Most recently, he spent six years at Nokia Mobile Phones where he held technology marketing positions focused on wireless access requirements of major operators in the Americas and the promotion of Nokia-supported wireless access technologies.  He was also an active participant on the 4G Americas Board of Governors.

Prior to his career at Nokia, Jim held positions at Bell Communications Research (Bellcore) and Lear Astronics Corporation. While at Bellcore, he was part of the Intelligent Network Systems engineering team. At Lear Astronics, he served in various roles in the design and development of fly-by-wire flight control systems.

He holds MSEE and BSEE degrees from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Chris Horne serves as Chief Technical Officer of LBA Group, Inc. who provides consulting, test, project management and design services in communication systems.

Horne is responsible for all engineering activities in cellular, broadcast engineering, broadband radio services (BRS), FCC compliance as well as test and measurement products. Previously Horne was Engineering Manager for North State Communications in wireless planning and development. Chris was a Sr. Applications Engineer for RF Micro Devices supporting customers with technical issues involving CDMA and GSM phone system design.

Chris was also with BellSouth Mobility as an RF Engineer optimizing the first PCS radio network in the southeast. At BellSouth Chris managed the RF Safety Program and conducted training programs on site planning and optimization. Chris has prepared FCC applications, performed interference studies and system design for BRS. Chris has extensive experience in antenna systems, Distributive Antenna Systems (DAS) and radio over fiber (RoF). The author of several publications, Chris holds the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from N.C. A&T State University and the M.S.E.E. from N.C. He has been recognized by Internet Telephony magazine as one of the “Top 100 Voices of IP Communications.” Seamus served as the company’s Senior Vice President of Product Management and Marketing from 2001 to 2011.

He brings over 25 years of experience to Acme Packet in executive management, marketing, product management and business development roles at VoIP, IP networking, web infrastructure and computer companies. While at Blackfriars, Howe also wrote the widely read blog Blackfriars Marketing and published financial research reports on Apple, Inc.

Prior to Blackfriars, Howe directed Forrester’s research in networking, computing and infrastructure, and was also a principal analyst. Howe’s research predicted the next wave of Internet innovation in “The X Internet,” forecasted the impact of open source software in “Open Source Cracks the Code,” and predicted the recession in the PC industry in 2000 in his 1998 report “PC Industry Roller Coaster.” Prior to Forrester, Howe spent 18 years at BBN Corporation, where he helped develop operating systems for some of the largest parallel processors in the world and researched wearable computers, desktop videoconferencing and distributed systems. In addition, Howe helped firms like MasterCard, Wang and National Westminster Bank deploy early internets.

Tom Jasny, VP, Wireless & Broadband Network Systems, joined Samsung Telecommunications in April 2005, to lead Samsung’s Wireless and Broadband Networks efforts in the US. 

He has 26 years of technology experience, including wireline, broadband, and wireless infrastructure and device business. Jasny recently led Samsung’s efforts to support the Sprint Network Vision project, resulting in Samsung’s selection as a supplier for Sprint’s national network upgrade.  He has also been involved in LTE new business development in the US.  Previously, he led Samsung’s Mobile WiMAX effort in the US, resulting in Samsung’s selection as primary supplier for the Sprint/Clearwire 4G network.  Jasny also helped launch multiple new products in the US, including Samsung’s industry-first CDMA femtocell product with Sprint and Verizon.  For the past two years, Jasny has led Convergence Business Development activities, an initiative to connect, share content, and share user experience across Samsung’s consumer electronics and telecommunications device portfolio.

Jasny has held various positions within Nortel Networks, Siemens, and VocalData, a Tekelec company.  He came to Samsung from VocalData, a provider of hosted Internet Protocol (IP) telephony applications, delivering advanced telecom services and applications to business and residential customers.   

Jasny has been in key leadership roles since 1993 when he assumed VP responsibilities for Nortel Sales and Customer Services organization, designing and building a total sales organization including customer and supplier contracts, marketing operations, program management, installation and field service.  In 1995 he assumed the role of VP, Sales and Service for Siemens Wireless Terminals.  For the next three years Jasny led an organization that sold GSM and CDMA handsets to North American and Asian operators. 

In 1998 Jasny was recruited back to Nortel where he assumed P&L responsibility for all Nortel product and account activities for the Sprint PCS national network. In 1999, he assumed P&L responsibility for all Nortel product lines sold to the major national and regional emerging wireless carriers. 

Jasny has an MBA from Vanderbilt University and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He is a Board member of the Open Patent Alliance, a recent member of the Board of Directors of WCAI and is a former Board Member of the Heard Museum and the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Nick has been part of ip.access since its formation in 1999 and was a major contributor to the GSM technology on which ip.access is founded.

As CTO, Nick is responsible for technology strategy and implementation at ip.access, leading technical innovation, specification and planning activities, and directing the development of the organisation’s products.

Prior to ip.access, Nick was a founding member of ip.access’ parent company TTP Communications, a world leading independent supplier of GSM technology. During this period he led numerous consultancy and development projects, and generated significant IPR in heterogeneous broadband/narrowband audio service delivery technology.

Before working at TTPCom, Nick spent several years with The Technology Partnership, the progenitor of TTPCom and the leading high technology consultancy in the Cambridge area. Prior to that he was at the prestigious Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, building state-of-the-art receivers for radio astronomy.

Mohammad Khan is the president of ViVOtech, the near field communication (NFC) software and systems company, that enables rich mobile commerce solutions for in-store payment, loyalty, marketing, and merchandising.

Under Khan’s leadership ViVOtech has grown from its beginnings as the inventor of the first contactless credit card terminals to become the top provider worldwide of smart applications for enhancing the customer experience, wallet and trusted service manager (TSM) software, and point of sale systems that are making NFC mCommerce a reality.

Mr. Kilbourne is currently Deputy General Counsel at the Utilities Telecom Council (“UTC”) where he provides legal guidance to utilities on telecommunications issues both pending before federal and state agencies and being considered in Congress.

UTC is the national representative on telecommunications matters for its electric, gas and water utilities and natural gas pipeline company members, which range in size from large combination electric-gas-water utilities which serve millions of customers, to smaller, rural electric cooperatives and water districts which serve only a few thousand customers each.

Prior to joining UTC in October 1998, Mr. Kilbourne was employed at BellSouth Corporation from 1994-1998 in its Washington, D.C. office where he assisted the legal department on a variety of common carrier, wireless and cable issues. He was also employed at the law firm of Baker & Hostetler from 1991-1994 where he assisted the communications practice, primarily on broadcast and cable television matters. Mr. Kilbourne graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. He received his Juris Doctor degree in 1998 from The Catholic University, Columbus School of Law and is licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland.

Reiner Klement is vice president of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT). In this role, Klement is responsible for overseeing product management, business development and marketing for QCT’s  product portfolio for smartphones and feature phones.

Jeff Kohler is a founder of JAB Wireless, Inc., one of the largest fixed wireless service providers in the United States.  He is responsible for mergers and acquisitions and all other corporate development activity for JAB.  Previously, Mr. Kohler served as Director of Corporate Finance and M&A with Bathgate Capital Partners LLC where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and capital formation within the wireless industry.  Bathgate Capital raised debt and equity capital and assisted in the acquisition of 45 companies for JAB under Mr. Kohler’s oversight. He has over 25 years of business management experience, with particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions and raising private debt and equity capital for emerging companies. Mr. Kohler was CEO and founder of Reason, Inc., a wireless management services company that was acquired in 2002. He previously held positions with AT&T Wireless and McCaw Cellular Communications. An 11-year Juniper veteran, Mr. Leelanivas previously served as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Junos Ready Software (JRS) business group, dedicated to the creation and delivery of an ecosystem of software and applications built on the Junos and Junos Space platforms. Additionally, he was responsible for notable progress in Juniper’s Project Falcon (MobileNext) mobility initiative.

Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Edge and Aggregation business unit for the Infrastructure Products Group (IPG), where he led the development and launch of Juniper’s groundbreaking MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers.

Vicki Livingston is the Head of Communications and Analyst Relations for 4G Americas and supports the organization’s mission to provide a unified voice for the 3GPP family of technologies and its ecosystem – including networks, applications, services and connected devices – throughout the Americas. In her role, she manages all communications, media and analyst relations for the association as well as strategic planning, and supervises a team responsible for public relations and conferences. Previously, Ms. Livingston was in a similar position with 3G Americas, LLC and prior to that with the Universal Wireless Communications Consortium (UWCC).

Ms. Livingston has over 20 years experience in public relations and marketing, strategizing and executing the launch of seven new companies or international brands throughout her career, including two wireless companies, 3G Americas and now 4G Americas.
 
In the wireless industry, Ms. Livingston served as the Marketing Consultant of Telecorp PCS during the launch of their service in the Wisconsin market. Additionally, she was Director of Marketing for Industar Digital PCS, with full responsibility for the launch of Industar’s service including public relations, customer service, new product development processes, pricing strategy and advertising.
 
Other career experiences include her role as Director of Business Development for one of the largest business-to-business advertising agencies in the U.S. and Public Relations and Development Consultant to not-for-profit organizations. She began her career as Marketing Manager for Miller Brewing Company, a subsidiary of Philip Morris, Inc. where she first became involved in brand development, market segmentation and supported the launch of the Lite beer brand.

Ms. Livingston is an active volunteer having served on Boards of Directors including the Arthritis Foundation, AFS and Easter Seals (Past President). She is active at her church in a variety of volunteer roles and is currently an AFS host parent for a high school student from Norway. She has been a supporter of the mission of peace and understanding for AFS in many ways beginning with her own high school scholarship as an exchange student to New Zealand.

Prior to joining the CTO’s office, Swati worked as Director of RF Engineering, metroPCS NY market and was responsible for design and performance of the CDMA and LTE networks.

Swati has 20 years of industry experience, out of which 15 years are with CDMA and 4G LTE wireless provider. Her strength is in building team and wireless network from the ground up and leading an organization from start up to sustained operations. She has successfully launched two networks for New York in the span of 2 years, CDMA 1X network in 2009 and LTE in 2010.

Swati has Ph.D in Electrical Engineering from University of Houston and is Founder and President of “Aryas Kids”, non-profit foundation to fight childhood cancer.

Jennifer A. Manner is Deputy Bureau Chief and has a focus on strategy and new technologies. Ms. Manner previously worked as a Principal at ZComm Strategies LLC, where she was a consultant on telecommunications regulatory policy issues. Before that, Ms. Manner was Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at SkyTerra Communications, LLC, where she handled the company’s domestic and international regulatory and policy issues. Before joining SkyTerra, Ms. Manner served as Senior Counsel to FCC Commissioner Kathleen Abernathy with responsibility for wireless, international and new technology issues.

Ms. Manner joined the Commissioner’s office after working at MCI Communications Corporation, later WorldCom, Inc., as Associate Counsel for Foreign Market Access and then as International Wireless Services and Director of International Alliances.
Prior to this position, Ms. Manner was an associate in the Communications Group at Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld, L.P. Before joining Akin, Gump, Ms. Manner was an Attorney-Advisor at the FCC.

Ms. Manner currently serves as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center. She has also served as an adjunct professor at the Washington College of Law at American University. Ms. Manner has published several books on telecommunications issues and has written numerous law review articles.

Ms. Manner received her B.A. from the State University of New York at Albany, from which she was recently awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award for Political Science.  She received her J.D. cum laude from New York Law School and LL.M. with distinction from Georgetown University Law Center. Ms. Manner is admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., New York and Connecticut.

Chief Technical Officer, Service Provider Business – Cisco

Robert C. McIntyre currently serves as chief technical officer of Cisco’s Service Provider Business. 

Previously chief technical officer for Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco Company, McIntyre’s newly extended role will enable him to leverage the synergies of Scientific Atlanta and Cisco intellectual capital and integrated end-to-end technology portfolio to improve the overall service velocity of the ‘quad play’ for service providers and the industry. 

McIntyre began his career at Scientific Atlanta in 1991 and has held significant leadership roles in the company’s Transmission and Subscriber businesses. While leading the Subscriber business, his team designed the first real-time digital TV systems and held the first digital TV field trials over Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC). Bob was named Chief Technical Officer in 1999.

Prior to joining Scientific Atlanta, McIntyre was vice president and general manager of Augat’s Interconnection Products Group and served as president and CEO of Avex, Inc., an electronic manufacturing company in Huntsville, Alabama.  Earlier in his career, he was the vice president and general manager of GTE Communication Systems in both their Telephone Switching and Transmission businesses.  McIntyre also spent 11 years at General Electric, working in a variety of technical management positions. He also participated in General Electric’s General Management Development Program.

McIntyre holds a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy and Materials from Carnegie Mellon University.  He has done graduate work at Penn State in Engineering Mechanics, and at Gannon University in Business Administration Training programs.   McIntyre became a member of the Network Advisory Council of Accenture in 2006.

Susan McNeice is vice president of software research with Yankee Group’s Network Research group, driving the company’s research in the areas of telecom marketing, operations and OSS/BSS software strategy. Her areas of expertise include OSS/BSS, subscriber and policy management, customer care, self-service, RT charging, dynamic cataloging, business intelligence/analytics, revenue assurance and service assurance.

McNeice has more than 25 years’ experience in the communications and IT industries. Prior to joining Yankee Group, she led the OSS/BSS group at Stratecast, a division of Frost & Sullivan, where she served as global director of communications infrastructure systems and software. Before that, McNeice was director of marketing at Vibrant Solutions (now Teoco) and director of conference development at TeleStrategies. She also led several teams for AT&T in OSS/BSS strategic planning, software definition and program management.

McNeice holds an M.S. in project management from the George Washington University School of Business and a B.A. in economics from the University of Delaware. She has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones’ Market Watch and the San Jose Mercury News, and has published articles in publications including Billing & OSS World, BillingOSS and Telco 2.0.

Philip C Merrill was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona.  He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in 1972. Mr. Merrill is a member of the Cable Television Pioneers Club.  Mr. Merrill cofounded, with several others, the first Wireless Cable Television industry association in 1979. He served for 20 years on the board of the association, now WCAI, including 3 years as its chairman in the early days. In 1983, he was one of the larger successful applicants for BRS licenses. His current project is BeamSpeed, LLC; a high speed wireless Internet Access Company in Yuma, Arizona. BeamSpeed has BRS and EBS channel rights for all of Yuma and Imperial counties and has agreements with Multivision and the Arvizu family for shared use of frequencies on both sides of the border with Mexico. Mr. Merrill has extensive experience in all aspects of the wired and wireless communications business. This includes lobbying state legislatures, the U.S. Congress and the FCC; channel acquisition, site development, FCC applications and filings, and business development and operation.

Eric Miller is the Senior Wireless Strategist within XO Communication’s Strategic Development Group.  In this role, he promotes the use of the company’s extensive 28 GHz LMDS assets, both internally and externally.  Prior to his work at XO Communications, Eric held Director of Wireless Engineering positions with Teligent, First Avenue Networks, and FiberTower, all microwave-focused service providers.  Mr. Miller began his career in the wireless industry designing cellular networks for LCC, one of the earliest and largest cellular design consulting firms.  He holds an MSEE degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a BSEE degree from Virginia Tech.

Jonathan brings more than 20 years of marketing, technical, and management experience from across the communications industry to his role with Cisco through the acquisition of Starent Networks.  As Senior Director of Product Marketing at Starent Networks, he was responsible for all aspects of external product marketing for the company.  Prior to Starent Networks, Jonathan was Vice President of Product Marketing for Tatara Systems responsible for all aspects of product marketing and product management. 

Prior to Tatara, Jonathan was Director of Product Management for Appian Communications. He has also held numerous management positions at Fujitsu Network Communications, including serving as the Senior Director of Product Marketing within the switching division, founding the Corporate Business Development group responsible for partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions, and various product planning positions defining next generation transmission and switching products.

Jeff Nichols is the Sr. Director of IT Infrastructure Services for the Sempra Energy Utilities. The Utilities serve the energy needs of over 20 million customers in a 24,000 square mile southern California service area. Mr. Nichols’ organization provides the complete range of computing and communications infrastructure for the utilities’ 12,000 employees. His organization also supports numerous Smart Grid initiatives focused on communications, cybersecurity and computing infrastructure.

Mr. Nichols was previously the Director of Networks and Communications for the Sempra utilities. Before coming to Sempra, he was Executive Director of IT Infrastructure at Kaiser Permanente; a divisional VP and CTO at Science Applications International Corporation; and VP/General Manager at a private software development firm.

Mr. Nichols is a member of the IEEE, a Board member of the Utilities Telecom Council (UTC) and is Chairman of the UTC’s Smart Networks Council. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in business administration from Kent State University.

Shaul Ben-Nun is currently the General Manager of the Carrier Global Business Unit at Alvarion. John Ogren founded SpeedNet LLC with Robert Liggett, Jr. of Liggett Broadcasting and Big Boy LLC in July of 2001.  Today the company markets its broadband service under the trademark SpeedConnect.   SpeedConnect is Michigan’s largest and fastest growing wireless broadband Internet provider, and recently expanded operations into Iowa.  SpeedConnect has pioneered fixed and mobile broadband service through its BRS and EBS spectrum holdings, and is serving thousands of Michigan and Iowa customers from its operation based in Saginaw, MI.  Prior to SpeedConnect Mr. Ogren served as Divisional Vice President for Harron Communications, a Philadelphia based cable television and satellite service provider, for 15 years.  In the cable television industry he also worked for Continental cablevision, Comcast, Mediacom and Adelphia.  A Michigan State University graduate Mr. Ogren holds an undergraduate degree in telecommunications and an MBA in finance.

Dr. Hideo Okinaka is Vice President and General Manager of Emerging Technologies and Spectrum Division at KDDI Corporation and responsible for industry and government relations on technology matters including investigation into emerging technologies, standards strategy, bridging the valley between standardisation and implementation, and spectrum affairs.  Prior to assuming the current role in April 2006, he was responsible for the corporate level technology strategy as Vice President and General Manager of Strategic Technology Management Division.  Until March 2004, he had been working on the cellular telephone business since 1991, including business development strategy for the KDDI’s “au” business unit as Vice President, the Japanese TDMA and IMT-2000 system development, and licence bidding in offshore markets.  Prior to this, he spent 14 years for R&D primarily on the satellite communication system engineering with particular emphasis on mobile satellite systems at KDD and Inmarsat.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of WiMAX Forum.  He was the Chair of 3GPP2 Steering Committee in 2003-2004 term and also served as the Chair of 3GPP2 TSG-S, Services and Systems Aspects working group, from its foundation in 1999 till January 2001.  He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Mobile Wireless Internet Forum (MWIF) during the entire period of its life.

Dr. Okinaka received Morita Prize and Achievement Award from the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communications Engineers of Japan for his contribution to the development of digital mobile satellite communication systems.  He was also praised by Recognition Award from the ITU Association of Japan for his contribution to the 3G mobile system standardisation.  He earned a B.S. degree in applied physics, a M.S. degree in physics and a Dr. Engineering degree in communication science from Waseda University.

Sandra Palumbo, research fellow, reports into Yankee Group’s Research Council. Prior to joining Yankee Group, Palumbo served as associate director at Capgemini, where she led the marketing strategy for the North American IT outsourcing business and the Capgemini Consulting subsidiary. Before that, she was director of global enterprise research at Yankee Group, with a focus on the SMB, mid-market and enterprise space addressing supply- and demand-side drivers, inhibitors and the strategic direction and growth of the managed services space. She also worked as a sales associate in the business development and strategic selling organizations at AT&T Solutions, the professional services arm of AT&T Corporation. During her time there, Palumbo worked in the networking operations and management organization, supporting global client support centers and transition teams as a process manager and developer for network activities associated with the monitoring, management and performance of a corporate network.

Steve Pazol is president, nPhase, a Verizon Wireless / Qualcomm joint venture, where he directs all aspects of the company’s operations, strategic development and execution. nPhase provides machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless communications and smart services offerings across a wide variety of market segments, including healthcare, manufacturing, utilities, distribution and consumer products. Previously Pazol was vice president and general manager for the Global Smart Services group for Qualcomm Enterprise Services, the group that provided the basis for the newly formed joint venture.

Pazol is a seasoned entrepreneur and CEO with a 20+ year track record of successful startups in high technology and emerging markets, including M2M (machine to machine), enterprise software and wireless technologies. Prior to joining Qualcomm, Pazol was the founder and CEO of the original nPhase which was acquired by Qualcomm in 2006.

A recognized thought leader and industry expert, Pazol has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Chicago Innovation Award, was named one of the original 10 M2M Pioneers by M2M Magazine, and served as moderator of the first M2M web log—M2Mblog. He has written numerous articles in technology journals, is on the Advisory Board of M2M Magazine, was the technical editor of the Unicenter Advisor magazine for more than 7 years as well as guest editor of Internet Security Advisor. Ken Rehbehn is a principal analyst with Yankee Group’s Network Research team. As a 4G mobile wireless infrastructure analyst, Ken tracks radio access network (RAN) technology solutions operators deploy to deliver value to consumers, enterprises and government. With over 25 years of experience in the field, Ken provides insight into 3G and RAN trends including LTE, HSPA and WiMAX, as well as supporting femtocell and Wi-Fi offload solutions.

Before joining Yankee Group, Ken served as a strategic marketing director for Alcatel-Lucent and as a wireless infrastructure analyst at Current Analysis. Prior to joining Current Analysis, Ken served as director of product management at Megisto Systems, Inc., a startup equipment vendor producing next-generation data gateway solutions for GSM and UMTS networks. Before that, Ken worked at Visual Networks as an ATM product line manager as well as a member of the CTO’s staff. Robert J. Rob Riordan, executive vice president and director of corporate development for Nsight, is a dynamic speaker and lively commentator on emerging technologies in the telecommunications world. In his role he looks six months to six years ahead of where the company is today.

When Rob is not working on mergers, acquiring new markets and spectrum or interfacing with investment bankers, he spends much time researching potential technologies and their role at Nsight. Through his studies of Mobile IP, for example, Nsight became the first company in the US to provide the service.

This knowledge combined with his 30 years of telecom experience allows Rob to speak on a number of subjects. As a Competent Toastmaster, he has traveled the globe through speaking engagements during the last ten years. As Clearwire’s senior vice president and chief technology officer, John Saw, Ph.D., is the chief architect of the company’s advanced wireless network infrastructure and technology, designed to deliver true wireless broadband performance in a mobile environment.

Saw brings nearly 20 years of experience developing wireless networks and architectures to Clearwire, including pioneering work in the development and rollout of TDMA, GSM, CDMA and fixed wireless cellular infrastructure and microwave products.

In addition, he was instrumental in developing AT&T Wireless’ digital wireless broadband product, one of the earliest OFDM-based wireless systems deployed that foreshadowed the subsequent development of the WiMAX 802.16 standards.

Prior to assuming his current role, Saw served as Clearwire’s vice president of engineering since joining the company as its second employee. Before Clearwire, Saw held key engineering and technology executive positions with Netro Corp (now SR Telecom), AT&T Wireless (now AT&T Inc.), and Nortel.

Narothum Saxena is a Senior Director of Advanced Technology and Systems Planning at U.S. Cellular®. Current responsibilities include network architecture, evaluation of new technologies, and implementation planning of CDMA and 4G technologies. Prior to joining U.S. Cellular®, held various positions at Cambia Networks, 3COM, Indian Space Research Organization, Omnitel and AMI-Sanag.

Narothum has a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Osmania University, India. He completed an executive management program from University of Chicago and leadership courses from MIT and Center for Creative Leadership. Holds over 10 patents and over 20 are pending.

He lives in North Hoffman Estates, IL with his wife and their two children.

Daryl covers the wireless infrastructure space at Ovum, with a primary focus on market activities as they apply to the Radio Access Network (RAN). RAN coverage includes macro, micro, and pico cell solutions for CDMA EVDO, HSPA/HSPA+, LTE (TDD and FDD), LTE-Advanced, and WiMAX.  Daryl’s research includes not only what infrastructure vendors are developing in those areas, but how mobile operators are deploying and using those wireless networking solutions.

During his career as an industry analyst Daryl has been involved in such projects as helping technology vendors develop use cases for new products and services, identifying new technology trends, and providing market sizing and market share support.  He regularly speaks at industry and vendor events, where he is called upon to provide his insights on various trends impacting the wireless infrastructure market.  He is also often asked for his comments by trade publications on such issues as merger and acquisitions, new product announcements, and market developments as it relates to his coverage area.

Daryl brings over 11 years of industry analyst experience to Ovum.  Prior to Ovum he held similar positions with Current Analysis and In-Stat.  Before becoming an industry analyst, Daryl worked at telecommunications service provider Cable & Wireless USA, where he worked on that operator’s market and competitive intelligence team.

Rose Schooler is General Manager of the Communications Infrastructure Division within Intel’s Intelligent Systems Group.  Her team is responsible for delivering Intel architecture solutions for application, control, packet and signal processing within communications market segments including:  wireless infrastructure, network appliances, routers and switches – to name a few. Rose has been with Intel for 22 years, beginning as a process engineer in silicon manufacturing. For the past 13 years , Rose has focused on building the Embedded Intel Architecture business in various market segments. In this role, she has driven technologies transitions such as ATCA and Intel’s embedded System-on-Chip technology in addition to leading a number of development efforts for processors and chipsets within the embedded market segments.

Eitan Schwartz is RAD’s Vice President of Ethernet Access.  He has been instrumental in developing RAD’s carrier Ethernet strategy and in particular mobile backhaul over Packet Switched Networks. Blaise Scinto is Chief of the Broadband Division in the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, where she is responsible for developing policy and rules that facilitate rapid, widespread deployment of wireless broadband services, as well as licensing and oversight of these services. 

Previously, Ms. Scinto served in a variety of leadership positions during more than 15 years at the FCC, working on issues including spectrum policy, transactions, licensing, competition, and consumer concerns. Before joining the FCC, Ms. Scinto was an associate with the Washington office of Winston & Strawn. 

She has a B.A. in History and a J.D., both from the University of Virginia.

Ron has been with Cricket Wireless for almost eleven years. In his current role, he is involved with key decision making on Cricket’s LTE ECP architecture, Ethernet backhaul, infrastructure vendors, Tier 4 troubleshooting, performance management and network topology. Ron’s responsibilities include core, gateway and router platforms as well as policy enforcement, network optimization and security. At Cricket, he built the network team responsible for core routing, aggregation, load-balancing, firewall, video optimization, network address translation and IP assignment.

Ron received his BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Arizona and his MBA from San Diego State University.

Paul Senior is a radio industry veteran, with over 25 years’ experience in the Telecommunication Industry. He started his career at GEC Telecoms in the UK, worked in research at Plessey Research, and then Nortel’s BNR. Paul developed cellular network planning techniques for the early GSM network deployments for Nortel, where he became the Product Manager for Nortel’s GSM Radio and Switching Products. After a brief spell at Alcatel, Paul joined the Airspan product division at DSC Communications in 1994. In 1997 Paul was part of a team that spun Airspan out of DSC Communications in advance of the Alcatel acquisition. During his 17 years in Airspan, Paul has served in many management capacities including technical and marketing positions, but currently serves as Chief Technical Officer (CTO).

James (“Jim”) Seymour works in Alcatel-Lucent’s wireless CTO organization, where he focuses on standards and product strategy for the company’s broadband wireless technologies and solutions.  He is the recipient of the Bell Labs Fellowship award for his outstanding and seminal contributions to wireless technology and standards spanning 2G, 3G and 4G systems as well as for his significant impact on Alcatel-Lucent’s business through outstanding technical support for the company’s customers. 

Jim began his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories as a member of the technical staff for the Radio Performance and Analysis Group.  His work focused on improving equalization schemes for TDMA PCS systems.  Later, he became Technical Manager of the Wireless Algorithms Development Group at Lucent Technologies, where he was responsible for the design and development of algorithms and performance for 3G systems.

A Chicago native, Jim received his Bachelor, Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.

An industry visionary and well-known expert in the field, Mo serves on Alvarion’s executive management team as Corporate Vice President for Innovation and Marketing. In addition, he serves in several prominent roles in the industry, such as Vice President of the WiMAX Forum and a member of the WiMAX Forum Board of Directors. Instrumental in growing WiMAX into a multi-billion dollar industry and having expanded the WiMAX Forum’s global reach, Mo is considered to be the leading voice for the WiMAX industry. In addition to his industry leadership position with the WiMAX Forum, Mo also serves on the advisory board for the Wireless Communication Alliance and is an IEEE MTT-SVC 2004 chairman.

Prior to joining Alvarion, Mo was responsible for developing and managing network solutions in European and South American broadband wireless markets for Lucent Technologies. Before Lucent, he spent fourteen years in technical and management positions with Hewlett Packard, developing microwave and fiber optic communication components and systems. He co-founded the wireless systems division, where he was responsible for the engineering team developing low-cost residential digital wireless systems for U.S. and Asian markets.

Mo earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University on Subpicosecond GaAs Wafer Probe Systems.

Khurram P. Sheikh is presently Chief Technology Officer of Powerwave Technologies. Mr. Sheikh joined the company in August 2007 in his current capacity and is also the Chairman of the Powerwave Technical Advisory Board. In this role he leads the global product/business units for the company as well the global teams for research and development.

Mr. Sheikh was employed by Time Warner Cable from August 2005 through 2007, as Vice President, Wireless Strategy and Development where he was responsible for the cable and media company’s entry into the wireless space. Between 2000 and 2005, Mr. Sheikh was Chief Technology Advisor for various divisions within Sprint where he led the next generation advanced technology efforts for the company. Mr. Sheikh is widely recognized in the industry for his pioneering efforts in the development of mobile wireless broadband or “4G” wireless technology including WiMAX and LTE. Mr. Sheikh received advanced graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Wireless Communications from Stanford University. He also completed an executive development course in Product Development from the Harvard Business School.

Paul Sinderbrand is a partner in the Washington, DC-based law firm of Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP, which was recently ranked by US News as one of just ten First Tier communications practices in the US.  Paul has over thirty years of experience in the practice of communications law, specializing in issues involving emerging spectrum-based technologies.  He has represented a variety of communications interests, including wireless broadband system operators; communications equipment manufacturers; and domestic and foreign debt and equity investors in communications companies. 

Paul has been at the center of the effort to secure spectrum allocations and service rules in the US capable of supporting 4G wireless broadband services.  Among other major recent achievements, he authored the industry coalition proposal that led the FCC to modify the 2.5 GHz regulatory structure to promote broadband usage, lead the effort by US 2.3 GHz licensees to secure the regulatory changes necessary to deploy WiMAX 802.16e-2005 technologies, and has been active in efforts to maximize the utility of the 3.65 GHz band for WiMAX deployments.

Paul was been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2010 and 2011 listings of Best Lawyers in America for his expertise in communications law.  He graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University.  Mr. Sinderbrand is an active member of the Federal Communications Bar Association and a frequent author of articles on current communications issues.  He has also been a regular speaker at legal and industry conventions, and has lectured on communications law at George Mason University.

Manish joined Radisys in 2011. Prior to Radisys, Manish was the Vice President of Product Line Management at Continuous Computing. He also served as Continuous Computing’s vice president of engineering.  Before Continuous Computing, Manish held various engineering management and architect positions at Intel Corporation, Trillium Digital Systems, and C-DOT (Center for Development of Telematics).

Manish holds the patent as a sole inventor of “Configurable Cache” memory system. In addition, Manish has a 2nd patent assigned for “Method to collect address trace of executed instructions”. Wally Swain is a senior vice president in Yankee Group’s Network Research group, leading the Emerging Markets team. Swain contributes research and consulting deliverables related to both fixed and wireless telecommunications markets. Based in Bogotá, Colombia, he maintains continuous contact with the various global players to produce his analysis, demand modeling and forecasting and market reports. Swain’s expertise includes mobile telecommunications operations, M&A due diligence, strategic planning and organization design, alliance management, financial information for management and costing and statistics modeling. Beyond Latin America, Swain has worked on strategic consulting projects in Bangladesh, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Vietnam.

Prior to Yankee Group, Swain joined Focus Ltda. as a partner in January 2002, after ending his term as CEO of Comcel S.A., the dominant cellular provider in Colombia. During his tenure, Comcel increased yearly revenue by 35 percent, increased its subscriber base by 84 percent and decreased headcount by 20 percent. In addition, Swain oversaw the successful transition of company policies and procedures to reflect the business model of the new shareholder group, America Movil. Prior to his CEO position, he was COO of Comcel from August 1998 through November 2000. During this period, Swain managed operations through Colombia’s worst recession in 67 years, eventually delivering savings that pushed EBITDA margins to their highest level yet (from 26 percent in 1998 to 29 percent in 2000). Before joining Comcel, he worked for more than 20 years in several different positions within the Bell Canada organization. Swain’s previous work included positions in the office of the president, financial modeling, strategic and corporate planning, and gateways. He is the chairman of the board of the Colombia-Canadian Chamber of Commerce and member of the boards of CallYou (a Colombian Call Center), Revista Numero (a cultural magazine) and IQ Outsourcing (a provider of outsourcing services to the finance industry). He is also a mentor in Endeavor Colombia.

Swain holds an honors undergraduate degree and an M.A. degree in mathematics (statistics) from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He speaks English and Spanish fluently, and comprehends French and Portuguese.

Iyad Tarazi, Vice President of Network Development & Engineering, is responsible for the development and integration of new products and technologies within Sprint’s wireless and wire line networks and for the engineering of the RF and core networks.  He is also responsible for managing Sprint Nextel’s technology Integration labs. Iyad oversees an operating budget of $500M and a capital budget of approximately $1.5B.  Iyad has been with Sprint Nextel since 1998.

Prior to the Sprint Nextel merger, Iyad provided leadership to Nextel’s Network Engineering department.  His responsibilities included network planning, integration, performance engineering, testing and deployment for Nextel’s core network consisting of forty-seven Metropolitan Switch Offices. Iyad was also responsible for Nextel’s inter-MSO transport network, the data network and service layer network applications. Network Engineering activities include design, planning, engineering, integration and vendor management.
 
Prior to Nextel, Iyad held progressive management and senior management positions with MCI where he was responsible for planning and implementing MCI’s switching, signaling and optical network architecture for both local and long distance networks.

Since assuming, from its inception, the role of Nextel’s Vice President of Network Engineering in 1999, he has been the chief engineer of building and evolving the organization, the core Nextel network, and its support infrastructure.  Iyad has a broad background in financial and capital management and all aspects of engineering, planning, and design for both wire line and wireless networks.  

Iyad received his BSEE from the University of Maryland and holds a Master’s of Science in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University.

Iyad has become an avid runner and for the past three years he has run and finished the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC in addition to many other races. While he appreciates golf and strives to get better, his golf game is best described as a work in progress.

Dr. Tikhvinskiy is deputy general director of innovation technologies for OJSC GiproSvyaz. He is also chairman of the Information and Telecommunications Technologies branch of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Tikhvinskiy holds a doctorate in  economical science (2003) and in radio engineering (1988). He is the Government Prize laureate (2002) and a member of the State Duma Committee Expert Council. He has published more than 190 scientific papers and nine books on the economic and legal developments within LTE/UMTS, as well as QoS problems, and spectrum management and EMC issues.
Since 2007, he has been chief editor of T-Com Journal. He is also a professor at Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI) and a visiting professor at the Tunisian Telecommunication Institute (Iset’Com).

He is an ITU field expert, and has actively participated in the work of international regulatory and standardization telecom bodies as a representative of the Russian Federation in the ITU.

TJ Varghese is Director of Product Management – Cloud Services at Quickoffice, the world leader in mobile office solutions. He is responsible for spearheading new product development and the company’s cloud services strategy. Varghese has worked at Quickoffice since July 2009. In addition to developing Quickoffice’s mobile Office apps on the Android, iOS, webOS and Symbian OS platforms, he also heads management of Quickoffice’s cloud partner program, growing the company’s overall number of integrated cloud storage partners, which is a key feature of the award winning, top-selling suite.

Prior to joining Quickoffice, Varghese worked as senior product manager on service platforms and products in merchandising, packaging and traveler security data suite for Sabre Holdings; parent company of Travelocity. Prior to joining Sabre Holdings, Varghese worked at start-up company EzRez Software where he was responsible for product development and management of business growth in the APAC region for many years.

Preet Virk joined Freescale with nearly 20 years of experience in semiconductor communications, embedded solutions and electronic design automation software. Preet worked for Mindspeed Technologies for eight years, where he served most recently as senior vice president and general manager of the Enterprise and Consumer Premise Equipment business. His broad industry experience includes building and leading high energy engineering and marketing teams, new business development, profit-and-loss management and the creation and execution of profitable product roadmaps and marketing strategies.

Preet earned a master’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He also is a graduate of Thapar Institute of Engineering in India.

Ian Walter brings to Altobridge a wealth of Aeronautical and Mobile Telecommunications experience. He started his career with British Airways were he worked for 8 years as an Avionics engineer in the Helicopter division. He joined Motorola in 1988 were he initially worked on the roll out of the Cellnet analogue followed by the roll out of some of the first GSM networks in Europe. In 1996 Ian left Motorola to join Silicon Valley startup InterWAVE Communication Inc., where he was involved in the development of a new generation of GSM products for Corporate and Emerging markets. In 1997, in agreement with interWAVE, Ian transferred to ADC Microcellular Systems as Head of Product Management and played a key roll driving the in-building corporate solution with key customers such as BTCellnet and Tmobile. Ian was part of the management team that worked on the MBO of the Microcellular business unit from ADC and went on to be a board member and CTO of the new company. After the trade sale of the company to InterWAVE Communications in 2000, Ian relocated to California where he headed up InterWAVE’s Product Management Group with responsibility for both the GSM and CDMA product lines. When Altobridge spun out its maritime business to form Blue Ocean Wireless, Ian was seconded to BOW as CTO where he successfully rolled out and launched the world’s first merchant maritime GSM service.

Previous to joining NSN, Andrew was Director of NGN Architecture for Qwest Communications.  At Qwest, he managed teams deploying a wide range of VoIP, SDP, and Cloud technologies that expanded capacity, reduced cost, and supported new product deployments.

Before Cingular, Williams held roles with SBC, Orange and Vodafone.

Ken Wirth leads Alcatel-Lucent’s End-to-End (E2E) Network Solutions organization. He is responsible for the company’s E2E LTE solution as well as broader wireless and wireline network transformation solutions. This includes systems engineering, architecture, design, end-to-end testing and certification, device management, solution delivery, customer and sales support.

Prior to this appointment, Ken served as the Customer Unit leader for a major U.S. Carrier. In this capacity, he was responsible for representing all products, solutions, applications and services from across the business, and partnering closely with the customer to address their business requirements.

Previously, Ken was President of the Lucent’s Multimedia Network Solutions organization where he had responsibility for the financial and business performance, strategy, product marketing, product management, technology and development across the access, data and optical networking segments. Prior to that, he was President of Lucent’s Optical Networking Group. Ken has held various management, marketing and sales assignments at AT&T and Lucent, including an assignment as Chief Financial Officer for AT&T Network Systems’ Access Products Group.

Ken joined AT&T in 1987 after launching his career with ITT Communication Services Group, where he was responsible for sales of telecom services to corporate accounts in the north-eastern and southern regions of the United States.
